Adam has innovated in healthcare using AI for 15 years. His past collaborations have resulted in a number of patents, papers, and creations including a hands-free controlled surgery interaction system, CPR monitoring system, and a computer-based sign language interpreter. In this session, we'll look at some exciting, cutting-edge AI innovations with a view into how the field of healthcare is changing, and unpack how the professional of the future may be impacted (or even enhanced).
Dr Adam Pantanowitz has been described in media as an “iconic biomedical engineer”. Being a technologist, he enjoys using his applied sciences skills to make real-world impact. He has co-founded a number of businesses/social impact projects including AURA, Resolute Education, and shift.stream. Adam lectures Engineering and Medicine at Wits University in Johannesburg, where he holds the Chair in Innovation, and is incoming Director of the Wits Innovation Centre. He is one of the youngest global Fellows of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK), and is an Expert at the Singularity Group. Adam is an internationally chartered engineer and holds a PhD in AI applied in healthcare innovation.
